Kayla and James wanted to take Virginia City Engagement Photos since they’re all about those old town vibes, and it was a dream. Come check it out!
Virginia City, Nevada is a historic town nestled in the hills of the Comstock Lode. With its old-western charm and stunning mountain views, it’s no wonder that Virginia City is a popular destination for engagement photos. Recently, I had the pleasure of photographing a beautiful couple in this historic town, and we wanted to share my experience with you!
First, let’s talk a bit about Virginia City. This town was founded in 1859 during the silver rush, and it quickly became a bustling metropolis. Today, Virginia City is a popular tourist destination, known for its historic architecture and unique attractions. Visitors can take a ride on the V&T Railroad, explore the old mines, or stroll down C Street, which is lined with shops and restaurants.
When planning an engagement session in Virginia City, there are a few things to consider. First, it’s important to choose the right time of day for photos. We recommend either early in the morning or in the late afternoon, when the light is soft and golden. Second, it’s important to choose the right outfits for the location. I suggest outfits that are comfortable and totally you! This could include things such as– a flowy dress, jeans and tees, a button-down shirt or whatever you feel comfortable with! I’ll also send you a style guide to help so don’t worry!
When I arrived in Virginia City with my couple, it was one of the windiest days we’ve ever witnessed! It’s usually pretty calm weather, but it ended up being perfect! There was almost no one there and the wind made the photos look so moody and magical.
We started the session in the dirt and on the outskirts near the old railroad museum, and worked our way to the Saint Mary’s in the Mountains Catholic Church. These locations were the perfect backdrop for their engagement photos in Virginia City. From there, we walked a few blocks to take photos on the outskirts of Virginia City. They ran around in the dirt, listened to music and had this gorgeous mountain and sunset behind them. From there, we wandered down C Street, stopping at various locations along the way. We took photos in front of the old-time saloons, on the wooden boardwalks, and ended our session at a locals bar.
If you’re looking for a unique and charming location for your engagement photos, I highly recommend Virginia City. With its historic architecture and breathtaking views, it’s the perfect backdrop for a dreamy engagement session!
