Kassy and Shea reached out and told me they were eloping and I was so excited!! They had a winter Tahoe Elopement, just the two of them and their friend as their officiant early one November morning. Come check out more from their gorgeous day!
Kassy and Shea wanted to elope at sunrise, and then spend the rest of their day together as newlyweds — the perfect combination if you ask me!
The morning commute to their ceremony location was one for the books. I stopped on the side of the road on the way to their wedding as I witnessed the first light fill the sky, and fog rolling over the mountains. I couldn’t help myself but stop to capture it all. It was so beautiful!!!
I met Kassy at the start of the hike once I got there. She was in the car with the heater blasting, and Shea and their officiant started on their way first, to get everything ready for the ceremony. She was wearing the freaking cutest mittens, with her white dress, coat and snow boots on. I was entirely obsessed, she was stunning!
We made our way through the snow trails and climbed up a few steep rock formations (which were 10x harder with 4+ feet of snow compared to the summer months). We got to the top of the hike and you could see the entire lake and snow-capped trees below — this spot is seriously one of my favorites!
Shea is a big fan of sunrises, so he was even more excited to witness one of the most special sunrises in his life — the one on his wedding day.
Kassy and Shea whipped out some Jameson and made some mixed drinks to warm up the morning, it was epic. We all soaked in these quieter moments before they eloped!
This Lake Tahoe elopement was truly one of my favorites to capture. Being on top on the world (or what it felt like) and seeing the sun come up over the mountain ridge, as these two declared their lives to each other was a dream. I have chills! They shed tears while sharing their own vows, and their close family friend married them, it was perfect.
After their ceremony, their family friend threw rice over them for good wishes and a bright future together, and then we celebrated!!!
After their ceremony, we had alllll the drinks. I brought hot cocoa in a thermos, Shea made some hot toddy’s, and we bundled in our coats and blankets.
One detail I thought was so incredibly special was the fact that Shea brought back a custom bottle of Jameson from Ireland that they would open on their wedding day, and they did just that. What an incredibly special gift to share after you get married?! Plus it was brought all the way across the world which is pretty rad.
As the sun started to rise more & once our fingers weren’t numb, we explored a bit and took portraits overlooking Lake Tahoe! The fog and clouds were still touching the water which was pretty cool.
We gathered all of our items we hiked up with, and then started our hike back down! We stopped mid-way to take more photos (it was too gorgeous not to!), which ended in a snow fight!! Haha so much fun. Getting to capture their care-free, adventurous love was such an honor. Kassy and Shea, thank you so much for wanting me to be apart of your elopement this past winter. Love ya’ll so much!!
