Top Lake Tahoe Wedding Vendors to Hire

Here’s my Top Lake Tahoe wedding vendors to hire for your stunning wedding weekend! From wedding planners, photographers, florists, and more, these are the top vendors I’d recommend reaching out to.

There are beautiful places to get married… and then there’s Lake Tahoe.

An alpine lake, mountain weather that can change in 15 minutes, strict venue + permit rules, limited transportation, and a destination guest experience all mean this: your vendor team is everything. The difference between a stressful wedding and an effortless, elevated one in Tahoe almost always comes down to who you hire.

Lake Tahoe has a very established wedding community — in fact, local professional groups carefully vet many vendors for licensing, experience, and reliability because destination weddings here require real expertise.

Below is the order I recommend couples prioritize when building their vendor team — plus examples of the types of local professionals you’ll want to look for.

Wedding Planner (Your Most Important Vendor)

If you hire only one top-tier vendor first in Tahoe… make it your wedding planner.

Why? They’ll help you plan everything from beginning to end, help you sort your budget for booking other vendors, and everything in between.

Lake Tahoe also isn’t a typical wedding location. You’re dealing with:

  • remote mountain venues
  • transportation logistics
  • guest accommodations
  • weather backups
  • permit restrictions (especially for public land ceremonies)
  • vendor load-in limitations

Local couples on Tahoe forums often warn that many services — including photographers and caterers — can’t legally work in certain public areas or venues without proper permits, and fines can be significant if planning is handled incorrectly. So hire your planner firstttt!

A local planner already knows:

  • which venues require shuttles
  • where sunset hits each ceremony site
  • how wind affects ceremony setups
  • what months wildfire smoke is most likely
  • backup plans that actually work
  • and so much more

Lake Tahoe Wedding Planners I recommend:

I’ve worked with all of these planners, and highly recommend all of them:

Wedding Photographer

Experienced wedding photographers book up quick, sometimes even 12 months in advance quick. Make sure to hire your wedding photographer next on your list, after you hire your wedding planner!

When choosing your wedding photographer, make sure that you love their overall body of work, and you feel comfortable and yourselves with them. The easiest way to choose your photographer is 2 ways:

  1. Ask your wedding planner. Most wedding planners have a recommended vendor list (like this blog post here!). They work with multiple different vendors, and will tell you the few to choose from that they trust.
  2. Reach out to those few photographers, and hire the one who you feel most comfortable with. The best way to do this? Setup a time to connect with them! For me, I do this via zoom calls since my couples live all over the world. We all hop on, can virtually meet, connect “in person” and I can answer any of your questions.

Yes keep your budget in mind, but hire the photographer you feel fits your vision & you feel the most comfortable with. That’s when the best photos will be documented, because you’ll feel comfortable enough to live them with your photographer around. So so so important.

Venue + Catering (Often the Same Vendor in Tahoe)

Unlike some locations, a lot of venues in Lake Tahoe include catering with your venue booking. Sometimes this is super convenient, and other times it can be limiting since the venue will require you use a specific catering team. Ask your wedding planner on venues they recommend based on your wedding vision, and if that includes catering or not.

Lake Tahoe Wedding Venue’s I’d recommend:

I created a blog post on The Top 35 Wedding Venues in Lake Tahoe, you can check that out here! Out of that list, here’s a few of my favorites:

Lake Tahoe Catering Options I recommend:

Florist

Flowers in Tahoe aren’t just décor — they’re structural. Your florist needs to design for:

  • wind
  • sun exposure
  • temperature swings
  • outdoor installations
  • truly bring your vision to life

A standard ceremony arch in a city may fall over at a lakefront ceremony on the lake if it isn’t properly engineered, so hiring a local florist who understands the local and weather, is so important! Local florists often collaborate closely with planners to design setups that won’t blow away during your vows and ceremony!

Lake Tahoe Florists I’d recommend:

Videographers

Videography preserves the life and movement of your wedding and truly how it all felt. The sound of the wind in the trees, your vows in your own voices, the way your people laugh during toasts, and the movement of the lake behind you are things photos simply can’t hold on their own. In Lake Tahoe especially, motion and audio matter: waves, mountains, and shifting light create an atmosphere that comes alive on film. An experienced local videographer understands how to document your story to remember forever, exactly how it felt.

Lake Tahoe Videographers I’d recommend:

Content Creators

A wedding content creator is different from your photographer or videographer — they focus on capturing behind-the-scenes moments in real time on a phone, delivering vertical clips within 24–48 hours so you can relive and share your day immediately. In Lake Tahoe, this can be especially meaningful. With epic lake views, mountain backdrops, cozy cabin mornings, and golden-hour light that disappears quickly behind the peaks, there are so many candid in-between moments worth preserving.

A great content creator works quietly alongside your vendor team, documenting the energy, reactions, and little details that don’t always make the final gallery — so while you wait for your professional photos and film, you still have something beautiful to look back on (and post) right away.

Lake Tahoe Content Creators I’d recommend:

DJ or Band

In Tahoe, the DJ does more than play music. They help run your ceremony smoothly, and keep the life of the party going during your reception.

Experienced wedding DJs:

  • coordinate with planner + caterer
  • manage reception timing
  • announce transitions
  • keep guests engaged

Some Tahoe DJs even help couples build timelines and coordinate with other vendors.

Hair & Makeup Artists

Lake Tahoe’s environment is beautiful, but it can be hard to predict at times. High altitude, dry air, temperature swings, and frequent wind all affect how hair and makeup wear throughout the day — especially during outdoor ceremonies and portraits by the lake.

A local artist understands how skin reacts at elevation, how to prep for dryness, and how to style hair so it actually holds in the wind (or looks effortless when the wind does pickup). They’ll also build a getting-ready schedule around travel times and lighting, which can really affect your overall timeline for the day! Hiring someone experienced in Tahoe is so important so your hair and makeup make you feel your absolute best, and will stay throughout the day for your epic Tahoe wedding.
