Summer in Lake Tahoe is pure magic—the long golden evenings, crisp mountain air, and that sparkling blue water that stretches endlessly into the horizon. It’s the kind of place where every moment feels bigger than life, which made it the perfect location for Bobby and Emma’s summer Lake Tahoe proposal at Eagle Rock.
Why Eagle Rock Meant So Much to Them
A few weeks before the big moment, Bobby reached out to me with his plan to propose to Emma. From the start, he knew exactly where he wanted it to happen—Eagle Rock. It wasn’t just a pretty spot with an incredible view, it was a place that already meant something to them. The two of them had hiked Eagle Rock together before, so returning there to ask her to marry him just made sense.
The Proposal Story
On a warm July evening, we set out on the short trail up to Eagle Rock. The summer sun was casting a golden glow over the pine trees, and the lake below sparkled in deep turquoise and sapphire hues. Emma thought they were just going on another evening hike together—something simple, familiar, and fun.
Bobby said it was okay if I texted him leading up to the moment, so I did! I got there before they did and hiked to the top to ensure there was space without people there. Of course it was summer and this location is pretty popular, so there was a good amount of people there. I talked to a few people and asked if they could just stay clear of the area in the middle for the next 15 minutes, and they said that was totally fine!! This is a public space, so I was by no means kicking them out, but just asking nicely if they can stand out of the middle since a proposal was about to happen. I then sent Bobby this photo and afterwards, Emma loved it so much hahaha. Safe to say he got the memo and understood the assignment LOL!
When they reached the top, with Lake Tahoe stretching endlessly behind them, Bobby dropped to one knee. The look on Emma’s face was pure joy: surprise, tears, laughter, and shock haha! After she said yes, they shared the sweetest embrace while the sun slipped lower over the mountains. I had my phone tripod setup and also captured their proposal on polaroid, which you can find here!
We spent time afterward wandering around the til past sunset and it was so unbelievably stunning. Every photo truly told the story of the beginning of forever for Bobby and Emma, in a place already rooted in their memories.
