This stunning winter Palisades Tahoe Wedding was truly a dream wedding to be apart of!! Come check out Keira & Steve’s epic wedding day, and learn more about why Palisades is such a dream venue to get married at!
High Camp at Palisades is a stunning wedding venue located on the outskirts of West Shore Lake Tahoe, nestled in the mountains in between Donner Lake and Lake Tahoe. If you’re an avid skier/snowboarder, or just want epic views of the Sierra Nevada’s Mountain ranges and a view of Lake Tahoe in the distance – High Camp at Palisades is the wedding venue you’ve been dreaming of. Getting married at a ski resort is EPIC because of the jaw-dropping views, and accessibility for all your guests and loved ones.
Palisades attracts lots of tourists for a wide range of attractions all year long, such as skiing all over Palisades (formerly known as Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows), taking the Aerial Tram up the mountain, and all the year-round attractions such a hiking, shopping, and dining.
In order to get to High Camp, you need to ride the Tahoe Aerial Tram. The tram (cable car) is a quick 10 minute ride up the mountain which offers panoramic views of the Sierra Nevada mountains, and a view of Lake Tahoe in the distance! It can comfortably hold 25 people from my experience going up with a wedding couple and a few family members and vendors, but according to their website, it can hold up to 100 people at once! The tram is also wheelchair accessible, so any grandparents or loved ones with wheelchairs can attend your wedding & celebrate your love!
If you love the idea of having a winter wedding, Palisades High Camp is a great place to have your wedding! You can host all of your guests in the villages at Palisades (only steps from the tram to High Camp), which also has lots of restaurants, shops, and live music entertainment! Palisades is also only a 13 minute drive to Tahoe City in Lake Tahoe where you can experience the lake and all it’s wonders. You can also hit the slopes at Palisades and literally ski/snowboard the day before your wedding (or even on your wedding if you want to!!).
After you take the tram up the High Camp, there’s the terrace which over-looks the lake and mountains, and is typically where most wedding ceremonies are held! Then if you go downstairs, there’s an entire room where you can host your reception, wedding dinner, and party and dance all nigh long. Right outside the venue are stunning areas to capture wedding portraits and bridals as well! You can even walk out onto the dirt area outside the venue and capture the tram going by, which is always an iconic shot. (Keep in mind – going outside of the venue miiight not me accessible in the winter due to snow levels & it being unsafe to walk on).
There’s so many options High Camp provides, truly making it a top location to get married at in Lake Tahoe!
Keira & Steve got ready in the Villages at Palisades surrounded by their favorite loved ones and it was truly a dream morning!! They had their wedding mid-April 2025, and it was a chilly day, but the sun came out to warm things up here and there. You could see skiers walking through the village down below, and the snow-capped mountains off in the distance.
While I captured Keira getting ready, my second shooter Chris captured Steve getting ready with his loved ones as well! They even hit the parking lot with some beers and hung out before the ceremony, it was EPIC.
After they got ready, they shared a first look in the meadows around the corner!! It was a dream and they were so happy to see each other for the first time on their wedding day. They hugged and laughed and we took a few photos with the mountains surrounding them. We also had their wedding party join us to take photos of them as well before the ceremony!
Then we all took the tram up to High Camp for their ceremony! They took fireball shots and played music with their friends, and took in the views on the ride up. We all arrived and celebrated their stunning ceremony on the terrace! The wind was blowing and there was fog covering the view off the terrace, so their ceremony was definitely cold. But all of their guests brought jackets and they provided blankets and things to help keep their guests warm while they got married! They shared their vows and exchanged rings, and it was so stunning!! After that, we all headed indoors to thaw out our fingers and get warm haha
As the sun was going down, we headed back to the terrace to capture bridals of the newlyweds!! The sky started turning colors and they were truly the most stunning portraits outside since the fog had cleared out, it was stunning!
After we took a few bridals outside, we headed back in to celebrate all night long! They had dinner and shared speeches, dances, and the most incredible memories with their favorite people on the BEST. DANG. DAY of their lives.
